Buckets of Hope for Haiti
Tennessee
Baptist Disaster Relief announces “Buckets Of Hope” ministry to help
victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti...
The “Buckets of Hope” ministry is just one means by which Tennessee
Baptists can fulfill the mandate of Jesus Christ to feed the hungry
in the name of Jesus. As we are reminded in Matthew 25:45, Jesus
tells us, “Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one
of the least of these, ye did it not to me.” (KJV)
A “Bucket of Hope” consists of a plastic five-gallon bucket packed
with selected foodstuffs. For approximately $30 anyone can purchase
the materials and assemble a "Bucket of Hope." The food contained in
a single bucket will feed a Haitian family for a week. You are also
requested to include a $10 cash contribution, placed in an envelope
and attached to the lid of the bucket, to offset the cost of
transporting the relief buckets to Haiti. (Or you can
make a contribution
to the Tennessee Baptist Convention and mark it for Haiti Buckets of
Hope contribution.)
Our Associational goal at this time is to raise enough money to
build 320 buckets. That
means if each church in our association will contribute $320, we
will reach this goal. If
this is a ministry that your church will be a part of, please
contact the Association office by Monday, February 15.
The deadline to contribute to this ministry is March 11, 2010.
World Changers Lenoir City Project Cancelled
The Lenoir City World Changers June 7-12, 2010 Project has been cancelled. The North American Mission Board said the cancellation was due to low participation. There was only one group of youth registered for the Lenoir City Project. A representative from the North American Mission Board stated that he felt the reason for this low registration was the state of the nation's economy.
Ministry Trailer Available
We
now have an operational Ministry Trailer available for use by member
churches. The trailer contains several nice pieces of equipment that will
make any church fellowship or outreach event more fun. Included are two inflatable castles
for the children, a large gas grill, a popcorn machine, a 6 foot
folding table, a portable generator, and miscellaneous small support items. The trailer even comes with an instruction manual. Any
church in the Association may reserve the trailer by calling the
LCBA office.
See the Ministry Trailer page for the rules for use, towing information, and more photos.
